DSDN 104 - Sketch Models

Slot Model Trial:

This is was a rough model to experiment with the idea of a spine and having parts coming off just to see if the idea would actually work off paper.

This is the top view of the same one just showing how the pieces are branching off the centre spine type support.

Slot Connection Trial:

This was a model trying to see how i would connect the pieces from the previous model to the spine. Having small slots and fitting them in i think would work best if i was to do this way.

Layering Trial:

This was my first attempt at the layering effect and only tried a few layers at first just to get the effect of what the overall one could look like bering in mind the acrylic is a lot thicker than the paper i'm using here.

Another Layering Trial:

Here i tried making some of the top layers to see what the top would look like and also tried bending some of the sides if i were to use card to bend up the edges.

Final Paper Trial:

I ended up choosing the layering method to go ahead with. This model is a top view of the layers and the effect i created around the edges too with the different points and shapes.

The bottom view of the final model before i submit my file for laser cutting. I really like the layers and twisted effect that has been made especially from the bottom view here.

Final Cardboard Model:

The final laser cut cardboard model to show how it turned out. My final is going to be made out of all acrylic so it will be taller but i like how it has come along and the detail in the edges.

Another angle of the card model. The twisted edges worked out the way i wanted and the layered effect i believe was the better way to go in the end after seeing this produced.
